The Spring Hill College men's basketball team lost a 65-53 conference decision to the University of Mobile Rams at the Arthur R. Outlaw Recreation Center on Saturday night.
Trailing 30-22 at halftime, the Badgers could do little to cut into the Mobile lead throughout most of the second period, managing to get no closer than seven points on three occasions.
Mobile held between and 9 and 11 point cushion throughout the second half and twice built as much as a 12 point buffer.
Freshman guard Charles Gordon of Birmingham scored 15 points for Spring Hill and senior center Nick Brown of Rota, Spain, added 11 points.
Mobile (14-12, 7-3 SSAC West) was led by Ji Kimbrough with 27 points.
The Badgers shot 44.7% (17-38) from the field and 20% (2-10) from 3-point territory.
Mobile shot 41.7% (20-48) from the field and made 21.4% (3-14) of their 3-point attempts. Mobile out-rebounded Spring Hill 33-27 and forced 17 Badger turnovers while committing just 10 of their own.
Spring Hill (9-16, 3-7 SSAC West) will travel to Jackson, Miss., on Thursday to face Belhaven University (15-14, 5-6 SSAC West) in a conference faceoff at 7:30 p.m. before returning home on Saturday for their regular season finale versus William Carey University.
