JACKSON, Miss. - The Spring Hill College men's basketball team took a 64-55 conference loss at Belhaven University in Rugg Arena on Thursday night.
 
The Badgers trailed 37-24 at halftime and the Blazers maintained a comfortable 10 to 15 point margin for much of the second half, but with 9:24 on the clock junior guard Tyler Schwab knocked down a 3-pointer to make it a 9-point spread at 47-38.
 
With two minutes to play, Spring Hill cut the deficit to 7-points off a free throw by senior center Nick Brown of Rota, Spain, to make it a 58-51 contest, but the Badgers would get no closer.
 
Brown and freshman forward Alex Looney of Murphy High School in Mobile each scored 14 points for Spring Hill.
 
Belhaven (16-14, 6-6 SSAC West) was led by Rob Wallace with 18 points and Nathaniel Roche' with 14 points.
 
The Badgers shot 36.2% (21-58) from the field and only 8.3% (1-12) from 3-point territory. SHC suffered 16 turnovers under the pressure of nine Blazer steals.
 
Belhaven shot 42.6% (23-54) from the field, but made just 10.5% (2-19) of their 3-point attempts. Belhaven and Spring Hill pulled in 41 rebounds apiece.
 
Spring Hill (9-17, 3-8 SSAC West) will wrap up the 2010-11 regular season at home on Saturday versus West Division co-leader William Carey University (17-11, 7-4 SSAC West) in the Arthur R. Outlaw Recreation Center at 4 p.m. Before the game, the Badgers will celebrate Senior Day 2011 by recognizing their three senior team members.
