In 1995, the Mobile Chapter of the Spring Hill College National Alumni Association named its scholarship golf tournament to honor distinguished alumnus, jurist and professor, the Hon. Michael E. Zoghby. In the summer of 1997, James DeVaney, a recipient of the Zoghby scholarship, died in an automobile accident. In honor of his memory, the Mobile Alumni Chapter added his name to the scholarship. Proceeds from the tournament are used to fund scholarships for children, grandchildren and siblings of alumni living in the Mobile and Baldwin County area.
