Oklahoma Wesleyan University took its second win in three days over Spring Hill College on Wednesday as the Eagles rallied to take a 7-2 nonconference win over the Badgers at historic Stan Galle Field.
Spring Hill took a 2-0 lead after three innings following catcher Fred Rossi's triple to right in the 2nd followed by a run-scoring single to left by right fielder Ben Nacastri and third baseman Brad Holstein's RBI double to right-center in the 3rd frame.
SHC starter Brooks Bobinger (0-1) held the Eagles (14-10) hitless through the first five innings of his first collegiate start, but gave up three hits in the 6th, including a go-ahead 2-run homer to left by designated hitter Nick Palese with two outs. Bobinger closed his day walking two and striking out one batter in 5.2 innings of work.
Trevor Cook (3-2) went eight complete innings for the Eagles and scattered nine hits with one walk and six strikeouts.
For the SHC offense, second baseman Brian Sims had two hits as did the designated hitter Ryan Cummings.
The Eagles earned just five hits as compared to the Badgers' nine safeties, but made them count. Along with Palese's dinger, left fielder Josh Hemsoth added a 3-run double down the left field line in the 8th inning.
The Badgers (11-15) will next host Auburn University Montgomery (AUM) in a 3-game conference set this weekend beginning on Friday with a single game at 6 p.m. and concluding on Saturday with a doubleheader at 1 p.m.
