Auburn University Montgomery closed out a 3-game conference set with Spring Hill College on Saturday afternoon at historic Stan Galle Field by completing the series sweep of the Badgers with a pair of 9-1 and 5-2 victories.
Spring Hill took an early 1-0 lead in the 2nd inning of the first game with an RBI single through the hole on the left side of the infield by second baseman Brian Sims, AUM (20-12, 3-1 SSAC West) gained the advantage with a 2-run double by first baseman Logan Remson in the 3rd frame.
The Senators added a run in the 4th off an RBI triple to right-center by centerfielder Brian Wheeler, who also added a 2-run homer to left in the 6th inning.
Remson ended the game with a 3-for-4 effort and Wheeler was 2-for-3 with both men collecting three RBI each.
Sims had three hits for the Badgers and catcher Brad Holstein had two hits including a 7th inning double.
Wes Cook (4-2) was the winner in six innings of work with six hits allowed, one walk and four strikeouts. Joe Carter (3-4) took the loss in six innings and allowed 10 hits, three walks and two strikeouts.
In the nightcap, AUM jumped out 1-0 in the 1st inning with a sacrifice fly by right fielder Sam Judah. The Senators then exploded for a 3-run 4th frame.
SHC cut the lead in half with two runs in the 6th inning when Holstein drove a 2-run double into the corner of left field, but the Badgers would get no closer.
Shortstop Ryan Cummings had three hits for the Badgers while left fielder Rusty Todd and designated hitter Charlie Lester each had a pair of hits and an RBI for the Senators.
Cody Hall (4-3) pocketed the complete-game win and allowed just five hits with two walks and two strikeouts. Stephen Herrington (1-3) lasted 6.1 innings with eight hits three walks and a strikeout for Spring Hill.
The Badgers (11-18, 1-5 SSAC West) and will travel to Jackson, Miss., on Wednesday to face Tougaloo College in a doubleheader beginning at noon.
