The Spring Hill College Department of Athletics has named Brian Sims and Gina Pambianchi as its USA ROTC-Spring Hill College Student-Athletes of the Week for their achievements in purple during the week of March 14-20, 2011.
 
Sims, a freshman second baseman from Murphy High School in Mobile, hit .423 this week in seven games going 11-for 26 with 5 RBI and 5 runs scored. In the field he recorded 18 putouts and 14 assists. So far in the 2011 season, Sims is hitting .301 and is tied for the team lead with 14 RBI.  He has also participated in 15 double plays on the infield.
 
Pambianchi, a senior women's tennis player from Cleveland, Miss., took hard fought 6-1, 7-5 singles and 9-7 doubles victories over Transylvania University on Thursday along with a default doubles victory at UNO and a 6-0, 6-0 singles win at Loyola University on Saturday.
 
In recognition of this honor, each week's winners of USA ROTC-Spring Hill College Student-Athletes of the Week award will receive a T-shirt, water bottle and handy gym bag compliments of the University of South Alabama ROTC.
