JACKSON, Miss. - The Spring Hill College baseball team split a nonconference road doubleheader with the Tougaloo College Bulldogs on Wednesday afternoon by taking the first game 9-8 and falling in the nightcap 6-5.
In the first contest, sophomore Brooks Bobinger (1-1) of Baker High School in Mobile, was the winner in 3.1 innings of relief work while junior shortstop Ryan Cummings from McGill-Toolen Catholic High School had four hits, two stolen bases and an RBI.
The second game saw sophomore David Dupuy (0-2) of McGill-Toolen give up three runs in relief to take the loss. Freshman centerfielder Chris Foglia had 2 hits and 2 RBI while freshman second baseman Brian Sims of Murphy High School ripped a triple and collected an RBI.
The second-game loss was the first in the 5-year history of the series between the two schools with SHC now holding a 24-1 record over the Bulldogs (2-16).
The Badgers (12-19, 1-5 SSAC West) will play Faulkner University (25-7, 1-2 SSAC West) in a 3-game conference series this weekend in Montgomery beginning with a single game on Friday at 6 p.m. and closing with a Saturday doubleheader at 1 p.m.
