MONTGOMERY, Ala. - The Faulkner University Eagles took both ends of a conference doubleheader over the Spring Hill College Badgers on Friday afternoon by the scores of 4-2 and 4-3 at Wynn Field.
Spring Hill starter junior Stephen Herrington (1-4) of Mobile's Mary G. Montgomery High School took the loss in the first game lasting six innings with eight hits, eight walks and two strikeouts.
The 20th-ranked Eagles then used 2-run homerun by first baseman Michael Clayton in the 8th inning of the second game to sneak past a valiant Badger effort as sophomore Casey Adams (3-2) of Brooksville, Fla., surrender eight hits in eight innings of work with three walks and five strikeouts.
Badger senior first baseman Joe Carter from Alma Bryant High School collected three hits in the nightcap.
The Badgers (12-21, 1-7 SSAC West) will play Faulkner University (27-7, 3-2 SSAC West) in a single game on Saturday at 1 p.m. to wrap up the series.
