MONTGOMERY, Ala. - The Faulkner University Eagles pulled out two runs in both the 8th and 9th innings to rally from a 5-2 deficit and take a 6-5 conference victory over the Spring Hill College Badgers on Saturday afternoon at Wynn Field.
Spring Hill starter senior Joe Carter from Alma Bryant High School went 7.2 innings and allowed just six hits with three walks and three strikeouts. Relievers junior David Dupuy of McGill-Toolen Catholic High School and freshman Tyler Hutson (1-3) from St. Louis, Mo., could not shut the door, however, and the Eagles drove in the tying and winning run with one out in the final frame.
At the plate, Carter also added two hits including a solo homerun to his day's work while junior catcher Fred Rossi from Shreveport, La., collected a pair of safeties, as well.
The Badgers (12-22, 1-8 SSAC West) will play Selma University (12-8) in a nonconference doubleheader on Tuesday at 3 p.m. at historic Stan Galle Field.
