DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - The Spring Hill College women's golf team shot a 2-day team score of 692 (+116) to finish 11th of 16 teams at the "Bash at the Beach" Collegiate Invitational in Daytona Beach, Fla., hosted by Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University on Saturday and Sunday.
The Badgers shot 334 (+46) on Saturday to end the day in 9th place, but a final round score of 358 (+70) over the par-72, 6180-yard course on Sunday dropped the Badgers into 11th position.
Individually for the Badgers, freshman Avery Kyle of Frisco, Texas, finished in 42nd place out of 88 golfers with a score of 165 (81, 84, +21) while senior Victoria Gonzalez of Miami, Fla., (88, 87, +31) and junior Annmarie Coan (81, 94, +21) of St. Louis, Mo., both closed with scores of 175 to tie for 57th position.
Other SHC competitors included freshman Katie Callahan of Prairie Village, Kan., who finished with a score of 177 (84, 93, +33) to place 61st and freshman Audrey Dombrowski of St. Louis, marked a 197 (100, 97, +53) score and landed in 74th place.
Florida Southern University won the event's team title with an overall score of 600 (300, 300, +24) and Kimberly Wong of Bethune-Cookman University was the individual winner with a 1-under par 143 (71, 72).
Spring Hill's women will next play at the 2011 Southern States Athletic Conference Championships at Columbus Country Club in Columbus, Ga. on Monday and Tuesday, April 18-19.
