COLUMBUS, Ga. - The Spring Hill College men's golf team shot a 2nd round total of 293 (+5) on Tuesday, shaving seven stroke off Monday's 1st round total of 300 (+12) and remain in 4th place out of eight teams with a combined score of 593 (+17) at the 2011 Southern States Athletic Conference (SSAC) Championships held at Green Isle Country Club.
Head Coach Steve Hodges said, "We have not played No. 9, a short par-3 over water, very well at all, but we are still in it with one last round to go."
SHC is 19 strokes behind William Carey University that remains the team leader after Day 2 with a cumulative score of 2-under par 574 (286, 288). Lee University stands 2nd with a score of 586, Southern Wesleyan University is in 3rd place carding a 591 and the University of Mobile stands in 7th place with a score of 615.
The Spring Hill College men's golf team will wrap up play in the SSAC Championships on Wednesday with an automatic bid to the 2011 NAIA National Championships on the line.
