Spring Hill College Men’s Soccer Head Coach Tim Brooks has announced the addition of four late signees to his 2011 class bringing this year’s class to a size of 16 new Badgers.

Daniel Ochoa comes to Spring Hill from Miami, Fla., where he played for Doral Academy Charter School under Coach Pamela McDonald and for the Real Madrid/Albion Soccer Club under the direction of Dr. Ismael Roque. He was the Rookie of the Year award winner and the Offensive Player of the Year at Doral and participated in the State Cup, Region Cup and Las Vegas Showcase tournaments.

Jabulani Thompson also joins the Badgers from Doral Academy and Real Madrid/Albion Soccer Club in Miami where he was the team MVP for two seasons and was named 2nd Team All-Dade County.

Goalkeeper Gabriel Jaramillo is another Miami player to sign with the Badgers. He played for Coach Michael Stewart at Christopher Columbus High School where he has been the starting keeper since his sophomore season. During his time in goal, CCHS reached the District finals three consecutive seasons.

Jaramillo was All-Dade County as keeper in both his junior and senior seasons and won the MVP Award of the Miami-Dade Senior All-Star Game with a shutout performance. In 2011, he won the CCHS Leadership Award. He played club soccer for Luis Calix and Matias Asorey at the Kendall Soccer Coalition where he was a President’s Cup Finalist in 2008 and won the Sun Bowl Championship in 2011. During the 2010-11 season, he participated in the US Soccer Developmental Academy.

Patrick DeLa Guardia earned a walk-on position with the Badgers this spring and joins the team after a successful prep run at Christopher Columbus High in Miami and Real Madrid/Miami S.A.A.

“With the addition of these four student-athletes, we feel we have definitely increased the positioning of Spring Hill soccer within the SSAC (Southern States Athletic Conference),” said Brooks. “We’re excited and looking forward to finally getting everyone together – newcomers and returning players alike – in August and beginning the new season."

The Spring Hill College men will open the 2011 slate at home on Saturday, August 27, versus Texas College at 1 p.m. on Library Field.
