Spring Hill College Women’s Soccer Assistant Coach Dana Veth has been selected to play for the Bahamas National team and will compete in two FIFA World Cup 2014 Qualifying Games in July.
The 24-member Team Bahamas will first travel to face the Turks and Caicos Islands in the first game of a home-and-away series in the opening round of the CONCACAF qualifying bracket. The second game is slated to take place in the Bahamas on July 9 with the winner (based on aggregate scores) advancing to the main draw in Brazil at the end of July.
Veth earned his first internal international experience as a member of the Bahamas CAPS National team where he led his team to second round qualifications in both the CAPS World Cup and the U-23 Olympic Qualifier in 2008.
Veth has also coached at the Bahamas Football Association (BFA) National Academy in 2007.
This fall semester Veth will begin his second season as an assistant coach at Spring Hill following a successful 3-year playing career at the University of Minnesota Morris.
In his playing time at UMM, Veth was twice selected All-Conference awards. As the starting center back, his defense pitched 12 shutouts during the both the 2008 and 2009 seasons.
Veth holds a BS in Sports Management from UMM.
