The Spring Hill College volleyball team took a 3-set exhibition match win over the visiting Faulkner State Community College Sun Chiefs at the Arthur R. Outlaw Recreation Center on Friday evening by the scores of 25-8, 25-7, 25-10.

The Badgers' All-American senior right side hitter Yiting Cao of Shanghai, China led the SHC charge with 10 kills, three service aces and a block assist for 13.5 total points scored.  Other top Badgers on the night included sophomore setter Taryn Nash of Independence, Mo., who had 16 assists, three aces, and two kills along with sophomore middle hitter Sha Sha Buchanan of Mobile's McGill-Toolen High who had four kills, an ace and a block assist for 5.5 total points.

Freshman Sami Maurer of St. Louis, Mo., made a nice debut at outside hitter with eight digs and 11 receptions.

As a team, Badgers out scored FSCC 49-18 including 33 kills to just 16 for the Sun Chiefs.

Shelia Dailey scored five kills for FSCC and Kasi Wells handed out seven assists. Brooke Vingers collected 10 digs and 28 receptions to lead the Sun Chief defense.

The Badgers open the 2011 regular season at home on Friday at 6 p.m. versus Southeastern University (Fla.) when SHC Head Coach Peggy Martin will attempt to become only the third coach in collegiate volleyball history to crack the 1,100-career win plateau.
