The Spring Hill College volleyball Badgers secured a little place in history at home on Friday night as they defeated Southeastern University (Fla.) by a score of 3-0 (25-18, 25-9, 25-13) and handed Head Coach Peggy Martin her 1,100th career victory. Martin is only the third collegiate coach at any level to pass the 1,100 win plateau.
SHC All American senior right side hitter Yiting Cao of Shanghai, China, racked up 18 kills with two aces, 16 digs and 10 receptions while sophomore libero Meredith Donald of McGill-Toolen Catholic High School in Mobile pulled in 18 digs with 15 receptions.
Sophomore setter Taryn Nash from Independence, Mo., handed out 29 assists for the Badgers.
For the Southeastern Fire (0-1), Karina Mambuca tallied nine kills, 11 digs and 20 receptions. Tara McSherley had 11 assists.
The Badgers (1-0) return to action in the Arthur R. Outlaw Recreation Center on Wednesday when they take on Concordia College-Selma at 5 p.m.
