The Spring Hill College women's soccer team saw its 3-game win streak snapped by a 1-0 loss to the Lady Statesmen of Delta State University at Library Field on Friday afternoon.
SHC limited Delta State (1-3) to just one shot in the contest, but the Lady Statesmen made it count when in the 58th minute of play Jessie Reeder fed a ball into the box and Merissa Hums won the scramble in front on the goal to poke the ball past the diving Badger keeper, freshman Abby Massengale of New Orleans, La.
Massengale accepted her first career loss in four starts in goal while DSU goalkeeper Kelsey Elling collected her first win of the season by making six saves against 17 Badger shots.
The Badgers also took five corner kicks and limited DSU to just two corner opportunities.
Spring Hill (3-2) will next visit the University of West Florida Argonauts (1-1) in Pensacola, Fla., on Wednesday evening at 5 p.m.
