BALDWIN, Kan. –The Spring Hill College volleyball team moved to 9-0 on the year with a pair of 3-0 victories at the opening day of the Baker University Invitational in Baldwin, Kan., on Friday afternoon.

In the first match, senior right side hitter Yiting Cao of Shanghai, China, recorded 20 kills and 14 digs as the Badgers took a 25-19, 25-21, 25-21 decision over Ottawa University (4-2). Sophomore setter Taryn Nash of Independence, Mo., handed out her 3-set season-high of 42 assists.

A pair of sophomores hailing from Mobile's McGill-Toolen Catholic High School also enjoyed a pleasant outing in the day's first match as middle hitter Sha Sha Buchanan knocked down eight kills and libero Meredith Donald scooped up 14 digs.

The nightcap saw the Badgers down the Sterling College (5-2) Warriors 25-23, 25-13, 25-14 as Cao had 11 kills and Buchanan pocketed another 10 kills. Senior Abbey Roam of Lebanon, Mo., served up four aces, Nash dished out 29 assists and Donald pulled in 16 more digs.

The Badgers remain in Baldwin on Saturday to face tournament host Baker University (6-5) at 11 a.m. and Benedictine College (2-7) at 3 p.m.
