MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Spring Hill College men's golf team closed out the final day of the 2011 Alabama State University Fall Invitational at Lagoon Park Golf Course with a 3rd place finish out of 11 participating teams.
Host ASU used a Day 2 rally to overtake Faulkner University and take the championship by shooting a team total of 592 (+16) over the 6673-yard, par 72 course.
Individually for the Badgers, freshman Adam Spiller was +5 with a score of 149 for a 5th place tie and freshman Jordan Portal took three strokes off his score on Tuesday to card a final 151 (+7) and tie for 10th position out of 57 golfers.
Freshman Robert ‘Bo' Cox sliced four strokes off his score in the second round to wind up in 19th place with a score of 154 (+10) while junior Joseph Webster of Trussville, Ala., notched a 156 (+12) for 24th place.
Unfortunately, sophomore Spencer Lane from St. Louis, Mo, suffered a 13-stroke addition to his score on Day 2 and fell from 2nd place entering the round all the way to 27th place.
The Badgers will next head to Rome, Ga., on Oct. 3-4 for the Chick-fil-A Collegiate Invitational.
