The Spring Hill College women's cross country team placed 3rd out of 6 teams at the Azalea City Classic hosted by the University of South Alabama (USA) at Brookley Gulf Pines Golf Course on Saturday morning.
As a team, the Badgers scored 85 points over the 6-kilometer course and finished in a total team time of 2:18:16.70. USA won the event with 22 points.
Senior Kate Imwalle from Mobile's McGill-Toolen Catholic High School ran a school 6k record time of 23:44.58, besting her own mark set last season in Clinton, Miss., and finishing 4th overall among the 39 individual runners.
Junior Payton Tanner of Fairhope, Ala., finished 17th in 27:36.38 and sophomore Emily Dolan, also from McGill-Toolen, was in 18th place at 27:37.56.
Senior Meghan Kacic of Tampa, Fla., scored in 22nd position at 29:27.34 while junior Kiearstan Carter of Mobile's Murphy High finished the Badger scoring in 24th position at 29:50.27.
Other runners for SHC included freshman Kaitlin Saacks of New Orleans, La., who ran her first collegiate race in 30:07.47 and sophomore Claire Stewart of Mt. Juliet, Tenn., who was 30th at 32:46.56. Senior Ashley Derenbecker from Bay St. Louis, Miss., ran in 31st position in a time of 33:04.25 and sophomore Anna DeWine of Cedarville, Ohio, crossed the at the 35:09.24 mark.
The Badgers next run at the Gulf Coast Stampede hosted by the University of West Florida in Pensacola, Fla., on Saturday, October 1.
