ROME, Ga. – The Spring Hill College men's golf team opened the Chick-fil-A Collegiate Invitational at Coosa Country Club by landing in 6th place out of 18 teams with a current score of 298 (+10) and just 12 shots behind the leader, Lee University.
SHC shot a combined score of 150 (+6) over the first nine holes, but cut two strokes off their back nine score for a +4 card of 148.
Individually for the Badgers, junior Joseph Webster of Trussville, Ala., freshman Jordan Portal of Miami, Fla., and junior Nathan Ceille of Hales Corner, Wis., each notched a 74 (+2) to find themselves knotted in a 9-way tie at 19th place over the 6924-yard, par 72 course.
Freshman Adam Spiller from Mobile's Cottage Hill Christian Academy is in 37th position with a +4 with a score of 76 and freshman Robert ‘Bo' Cox stands at 95th place out of 115 golfers with a score of 83 (+11).
The Badgers will finish the Invitational on Tuesday and next play at the Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College/Holiday Inn Invitational at Windance Golf Club in Gulfport, Miss., on October 17-18.
