The Spring Hill College women's soccer team blew past Brewton-Parker College with a 6-0 win in a conference match at Library Field on Friday afternoon.
Senior forward Amber O'Connor of Ham Lake, Minn., opened the scoring in the 2nd minute of play with an unassisted goal and senior midfielder Katie Pendergast of St. Louis, Mo., added a second goal in the 12th minute when her corner kick attempt found its way into the net past the Baron defenders.
In the 39th minute, the Badgers piled on a third goal as, sophomore midfielder Alexandra Suess scored from 20 yards out and in front of the goal off an assist by freshman Emily Thorpe of Shawnee Mission, Kan.
The avalanche of goals continued in the second half for the Badgers when freshman forward Erin Claxton of Calgary, Alberta, Canada, punched in goals in the 51st and 64th minutes of play with the first coming via an assist by freshman Madeline Galen of St. Louis and the second coming off an assist by senior Elaine Femmer also from St. Louis.
Claxton's goals were sandwiched around Pendergast's second score that came unassisted in the 54th minute.
Sophomore Cassandra Amore of Pace, Fla., and freshman Abby Massengale of New Orleans, La. split the save with each playing a full half in goal, but neither was forced to make a save as BPC took just two shots – both in the first half against Massengale.
BPC (1-10, 0-5) used three keepers in goal that combined for 13 saves against 42 Badger shots.
