MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The 21st ranked Spring Hill College volleyball team won twice at the opening day of the Faulkner University Invitational on Friday. The Badgers opened the session with a 3-1 (25-21, 25-16, 22-25, 25-23) decision over a determined Webber International squad and then took the second match 3-0 (25-12, 25-13, 25-16) over St. Thomas (Fla.).

In the match versus WIU (9-4), senior right side hitter Yiting Cao of Shanghai, China, had 20 kills, two aces and 15 digs while senior Cassandra Marchand-Stewart of Grand Bay, Ala., had 13 kills. Sophomore setter Taryn Nash of Independence, Mo., distributed 44 assists.

Against St. Thomas (7-7), Cao had 12 kills and 10 digs and Nash gave away 30 assists. Freshman middle hitter Megan Haber of Foley, Ala., recorded 11 kills and sophomore Meredith Donald of Mobile's McGill-Toolen Catholic High School scooped up 17 digs.

The Badgers (25-0) will remain in Montgomery on Saturday to wrap up play in the Faulkner University Invitational beginning at 9:30 a.m. versus Freed-Hardeman University (9-3) followed by a match with Martin Methodist College (8-14) at 1:30 p.m.
