MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The 21st ranked Spring Hill College volleyball team won twice at the final day of the Faulkner University Invitational on Saturday. The Badgers opened the morning session with a 3-0 (25-18, 25-20, 25-17) decision over Freed-Hardeman University and then took the afternoon match 3-0 (25-15, 25-13, 25-15) over Martin-Methodist College.
In the match versus FHU (9-4), senior right side hitter Yiting Cao of Shanghai, China, had 20 kills and four aces as sophomore setter Taryn Nash of Independence, Mo., circulated 31 assists among her teammates.
Against MMC (8-15), Cao recorded 17 kills with 10 digs and two aces. Nash dished out 30 assists and senior outside hitter Abbey Roam collected nine kills.
Following the competitions, Cao and Nash were selected to the 2011 Faulkner Invitational All-Tournament team.
The Badgers (27-0, 10-0) will now take a week off for the college's Fall Break before returning home to face Faulkner University (14-10, 2-7) in a conference match at the Arthur R. Outlaw Recreation Center on Tuesday, October 18, at 7 p.m.
