BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Spring Hill College women's golf stands in 8th place out of 16 teams with a +40 score of 320 at the Southern Shootout hosted by Birmingham-Southern College at Highland Park Golf Course.
Individually for the Badgers, sophomore Avery Kyle from Plano, Texas, carded a +4 score of 74 to tie for 10th place over the par-70, 5801-yard course.
Senior AnnMarie Coan of St. Louis, Mo., was in 39th place out of the 91 participating golfers at 81 (+11). Freshman Rachel Failla of New Orleans, La., shot a +12 score of 82 for 44th position and sophomore Katie Callahan of Prairie Village, Kan., was 50th at 83 (+13)
Sophomore Audrey Dombrowski of St. Louis shot an 87 (+17) after struggling to a 47 in the front nine, but regrouped to cut seven strokes off her score over the back nine for a 40 score.
Every SHC duffer sliced at least one stroke off her score over the final nine holes as the Badgers ended the first day with a strong closing performance.
Fellow Southern States Athletic Conference member Lee University finished the day in 1st place at 289 (+9).
The Badger women will tee off the final round in Birmingham, Ala., at 8:15 a.m. on Tuesday and next play at the University of Mobile Fall Classic at Heron Lake Country Club on October 24-25.
