BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – On the final day of the Southern Shootout hosted by Birmingham-Southern College at Highland Park Golf Course, the Spring Hill College women's golf team improved by one ranking to finish in 7th place out of 16 teams with a +80 score of 640 (320, 320) following a Day 1 finish in 8th position.
Individually for the Badgers, sophomore Avery Kyle from Plano, Texas, scored 149 (74, 75, +9) to tie for 10th place over the par-70, 5801-yard course.
Senior AnnMarie Coan of St. Louis, Mo., signed her card in 31st place out of the 91 golfers with a total of 159 strokes (81, 78, +19). Freshman Rachel Failla of New Orleans, La., shot a +27 score of 167 (82, 85) for 54th position and sophomore Audrey Dombrowski of St. Louis was 57th at 169 (87, 82, +29).
Sophomore Katie Callahan of Prairie Village, Kan., fell from 50th to 70th position on Day 2 after adding seven strokes to her score to close the event with a score of 173 (83, 90, +33).
Fellow Southern States Athletic Conference member Lee University won the team championship with a score of 577 (289, 288, +17) and Lee's Courtney Shelton was the individual winner with an even par 140 (73, 67).
The Badger women will next play at the University of Mobile Fall Classic at Heron Lake Country Club on October 24-25.
