GULFPORT, Miss. – The Spring Hill College men's golf team wrapped up the final day at the Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College (MGCCC)/Holiday Inn Invitational at Windance Golf Club with a +16 final round score of 304 to close in 7th place out of 12 teams on Tuesday.
Over the two days, SHC shot a combined score of 613 (309, 304, +37) across the 6659-yard, par 72 course and finished 33 strokes behind the tournament champion Meridian (Miss.) Community College.
Individually for the Badgers, sophomore Phillip Dugan of Lake Forest, Ill., placed in a tie for 3rd place out of the 80 participants with a +1 score of 145 (74, 71) while junior Joseph Webster of Trussville, Ala., was in 17th with a score of 149 (79, 70, 149)
Freshman Adam Spiller from Mobile's Cottage Hill Christian Academy finished in 24th place by carding a 150 (74, 76, +6) and senior Wyatt Esteves of New Orleans, La., was 32nd with a +10 score of 154 (79, 75).
Freshman Robert Bo Cox of Gardendale, Ala., wrapped his day in 35th place with a score of 155 (79, 76, +11) and senior J.D. Sabio of St. Louis, Mo., scored a 155 (79, 76, +11) for 35th position.
Sophomore Danny Wagner from St. Louis placed 47th with a +14 score of 158 (75, 83) and junior Nathan Ceille of Hales Corner, Wis., was 50th with a score of 159 (81, 78, +15). Freshman Jordan Portal of Miami, Fla., shot 160 (77, 83, +16) for a final standing of 53rd place.
Sophomore Spencer Lane of St. Louis notched a score of 163 (84, 79, +19) for 62nd and sophomore Rickie Lee, Jr. of Bayou LaBatre, Ala., was 66th with identical rounds of 82 for an overall tally of 164. Sophomore Lawton Kenny from Washington, D.C. suffered a DNF for Day 1, but did close out Day 2 with a 78 score.
The Badgers will next play at the University of Mobile Fall Invitational at Heron Lake Country Club on October 31-November 1.
