ROME, Ga. – Spring Hill College women's cross country team placed 20th out of 35 teams competing at the Southeast Cross Country Classic hosted by Berry College on Saturday morning.
As a team, the Badgers ran a total team time of 1:48:13.95 over the 5-kilometer course for a total of 578 points and a team average time of 21:38.79.
Individually, senior Kate Imwalle of Mobile's McGill-Toolen Catholic High School placed 6th of 310 runners and turned in the school's third best 5k time in the history of its women's program with a mark of 18:44.37.
Sophomore Emily Dolan, also a McGill-Toolen graduate, finished in 113th place with a time of 21:07.68 and junior Payton Tanner of Fairhope, Ala., finished in 122nd position in 21:11.54.
Senior Emily Stewart of Mt. Juliet, Tenn., closed in 226th position at 23:12.75 and senior Meghan Kacic of Tampa, Fla., ran in 250th position at 23:57.61 to round out the SHC scoring.
The 6th and 7th finishers for Spring Hill were senior Ashley Derenbecker from Bay St. Louis, Miss., who was 256th in a time of 24:06.88, and sophomore Anna DeWine of Cedarville, Ohio, who placed 267th at 24:39.80.
Other Badger runners included junior Kiearstan Carter of Mobile's Murphy High School who came in 269th position at 24:48.05, freshman Danielle Phillips of Hoover, Ala., in 281st at 25:22.77, freshman Lauren Whitney in 286th at 25:42.77, and sophomore Claire Stewart of Mt. Juliet, was 289th at 25:49.25.
The Badgers next run at the Southern States Athletic Conference (SSAC) Championships at Choctaw Trails in Clinton, Miss., on Saturday, November 5.
