The 19th ranked Spring Hill College volleyball team swept to it 30th consecutive win of the season with a 3-0 (25-14, 25-18, 25-18) non-conference victory over the Southern University-New Orleans (SUNO) Lady Knights at the Arthur R. Outlaw Recreation Center on Tuesday.

SUNO (11-8) took a quick 4-1 lead in the first set, but SHC rallied to build a 15-8 advantage before closing out the set at 25-14.

The Lady Knights fought the Badgers point-for-point again in the second set as the game was tied at 12-12 and 14-14 before a 7-point spurt by the Badgers salted away the set at 21-14 with SHC winning 25-18 in the end.

In the final set, SUNO once again showed its tenacity by matching the each Badger run with a strong answer. With the set tied at 9-9 following a 5-point run by SUNO, Spring Hill finally wrested away some breathing room with a 16-12 turn and then built out a 20-13 advantage off a 4-point streak.

In the scorebook, senior Yiting Cao of Shanghai, China, collected 12 kills with 14 digs and 10 receptions for Spring Hill while sophomore setter Taryn Nash of Independence, Mo., distributed 36 assists.  Sophomore Sha Sha Buchanan of Mobile's McGill-Toolen Catholic High School also tallied 10 kills for the Badgers.

SUNO was led by Christal Hollins with nine kills and Stephanie Bruhl with 20 assists and 14 digs.

The Badgers outscored the Lady Knights 54-33.

The Badgers (30-0, 12-0) will travel to Birmingham, Ala., on Friday to begin play in the Birmingham-Southern College Invitational starting on Friday at 10 a.m. versus Susquehanna University (15-15).
