BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The 19th ranked Spring Hill College volleyball team rolled past the Susquehanna University Crusaders and the Fisk University Bulldogs on Friday with back-to-back 3-0 sweeps at the opening day of the Birmingham-Southern College Invitational.
 

In the morning contest, the Badgers (32-0) took the 3-set victory over Susquehanna (17-17) with scores of 25-20, 25-17, 25-18. Senior right side hitter Yiting Cao of Shanghai, China, totaled 16 kills with 11 digs.  Badger sophomores Sha Sha Buchanan at middle hitter and libero Meredith Donald from McGill-Toolen Catholic High School continued to shine as Buchanan ripped out 11 kills and Donald pulled in 12 digs.

In the evening's match versus Fisk University (7-27), Buchanan recorded nine kills and five blocks while sophomore outside hitter Jessica Hall of Grand Bay, Ala., tallied 13 digs in a 25-5, 25-17, 25-12 decision.

The Badgers will remain in Birmingham on Saturday for second round action in the BSC Invitational starting at noon versus the Berry College Vikings (14-12) and wrapping up at 7 p.m. versus the host Panthers (17-16) at 7 p.m.
