The Spring Hill College men's golf team shot a two-day team total of 599 (+23) to take the championship of the 2011 University of Mobile Ram Fall Invitational at Heron Lakes Country Club on Monday and Tuesday.
Over two rounds of play, SHC shot combined scores of 297 and 303 across the 6807-yard, par 72 course and finished atop 10 other teams in the event.
Individually for the Badgers, junior Joseph Webster of Trussville, Ala., was in the medalist with an even score of 144 (71, 73) while junior Nathan Ceille of Hales Corner, Wis., tied for 2nd place of 56 golfers with a score of 148 (75, 73, +4).
Freshman Adam Spiller from Mobile's Cottage Hill Christian Academy finished in a 10th place tie by signing a card of 152 (76, 76, +8) and freshman Jordan Portal of Miami, Fla., shot 158 (75, 83, +14) for a final standing of 21st place. Freshman Robert Bo Cox of Gardendale, Ala., also closed his day in 21st place with a score of 158 (78, 80).
The SHC "B-Team" placed 6th in the standings with a score of 641 (325, 316, +65) as junior Chris Cartmill of Chesterfield, Mo., tied his teammates for 21st position with scores of 78 and 80 and junior Scott Shields of Atlanta, Ga., placed 26th with a +16 score of 160 (86, 74).
Sophomore Rickie Lee of Bayou LaBatre, Ala., was 34th with a score of 163 (80, 83, +19), senior Wyatt Esteves of New Orleans, La., was 37th with a +21 score of 165 (81, 84), and senior J.D. Sabio of St. Louis, Mo., was 40th in a score of 167 (88, 79, +23).
The Badgers wrapped up the fall semester schedule with the victory and will next play in spring semester beginning in February.
