CLINTON, Miss. – The Spring Hill College men's cross country team finished in 7th place out of 11 teams at the Southern States Athletic Conference Championships hosted by Belhaven University on Saturday morning at Choctaw Trails.
The Badgers collected a total of 167 points and ran a total team time of 2:25:23.59 in an average time of 29:04.72 over the 8-kilometer course.
Individually, senior Christopher "Will" Kirkikis of Kenner, La., finished in 25th place out of 87 total runners in a time of 28:07.15 and freshman John Russell of Cullman, Ala., ran in 35th position in a time of 29:03.36.
For Kirkikis, his time ranked as the 26th best 8-kilometer time in SHC men's cross country history.
Rounding out the scoring for SHC, senior Christian Boyer from Mobile's McGill-Toolen Catholic High School was 35th in a time of 29:03.36, freshman Conner Kirkikis of Kenner was 40th in 29:23.43 and freshman Michael Anderson of Marietta, Ga., placed 46th with a time of 29:43.96.
The 6th and 7th finishers for the Badgers were freshman Ben Redman of Spanish Fort, Ala., who finished in 48th at 29:51.07 while senior Brandon Arquette of Greenville, S.C., placed 55th in a time of 30:16.01.
Freshman Ben Fleming of Metairie, La., ran in 57th position at 30:42.82 to closeout the day for the Badgers.
Shorter University was the overall Men's Team Champion with 18 points as the Hawks swept the top four places led by Men's Individual Champion Ng'etich Eliud in a time of 25:32.32.
