CLEVELAND, Tenn. – The Lee University Lady Flames moved past the Spring Hill College women's soccer team at the opening round of the Southern States Athletic Conference (SSAC) Championship Tournament on Saturday night with a 6-0 victory.
The 2nd ranked Flames (16-2) first scored in the 13th minute of play with a goal via a Laura Thacker header off an assist by Jordan Woody.
Thacker would also assist on the second Lee goal tallied by Jamie Achten in the 54th minute that found the back of the net from 20 yards out.
Ode Fulutudilu then used an assist by Achten to score from 18 yards away from the front of the goal.
Lee kept the pressure on Spring Hill in the 62nd minute when Amy Cochran kicked in a fourth goal for the Flames following an assist by Kathryn Healy.
Achten continued to roll in the 65th minute with her second goal of the contest that came unassisted from 10 yards in front of the goal.
Darcy Brannen of Lee made it 6-0 when she scored from 15 yards out as a result of an assist by Healy in 79th minute.
For the Badgers, freshman goalkeeper Abby Massengale of New Orleans, La., made 10 saves in the face of 29 shots by the Flames.
Lee's keeper Leah Wilson recorded two saves against just four Badger shots.
Spring Hill ended the season with an 8-10-1 overall record and Lee continues on to the SSAC semifinals to be play on Thursday in Gulfport, Miss.
