SIOUX CITY, Iowa – The 16th-ranked Spring Hill College volleyball team suffered a 3-0 (25-17, 25-18, 25-13) loss at the hands of 9th-ranked Biola University in the opening day of round robin pool play at The Forum in the 2011 NAIA Volleyball National Championship presented by CNOS Foundation on Tuesday afternoon.

The Badgers were paced by senior right side hitter Yiting Cao of Shanghai, China, with 16 kills and 33 receptions while fellow senior Cassandra Marchand-Stewart of Grand Bay, Ala., had 11 kills, an ace and a solo blocked shot.

Sophomore setter Taryn Nash of Independence, Mo., handed out 27 assists and collected a team-high 13 digs as sophomore Meredith Donald of Mobile's McGill-Toolen Catholic High School added 10 digs to the SHC cause.

Biola's (24-12) balanced offensive attack was led by Christine Douglas with 11 kills as BU built a .400 attack percentage and SHC suffered an uncharacteristic 14 attack errors for an overall attack percentage of .217.

SHC (39-2) will next face the 4th-ranked Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University (Fla.) Eagles (28-4) at 1 p.m. Wednesday in Day 2 of the championship's 3-day round robin pool play.
