The Spring Hill College women's basketball team endured an 87-57 loss to the 15th-ranked Lee University Lady Flames on Saturday afternoon at the Arthur R. Outlaw Recreation Center.

In the first two minutes of play the Badgers jumped out to an early 8-0 lead, but Lee (9-0, 4-0 SSAC) responded with solid offensive play under the basket and sharp outside shooting to build a 41-30 cushion at the break.

The Flames controlled the action throughout the second half and outscored SHC 46-27 in that frame to take home the 30-point victory.

Junior center April Bradford of Pensacola, Fla., recorded her fifth double-double effort of the season with 16 points and 11 rebounds for the Badgers.

As a team, Spring Hill shot 36.4% (16-44) from the field and was 2-of-10 (20%) from 3-point land.

Lee put five players into double figures in scoring with Hollie German leading the way with 16 points.

The Flames shot 52.5% (31-59) overall and was 8-of-21 (38.1%) from beyond the 3-point line.

Visiting Lee also took the edge in rebounding by a 38-29 margin and forced SHC into 23 turnovers with nine steals. The Badgers received the ball 19 times off LU bobbles and took away nine steals.

Spring Hill (3-5, 1-3 SSAC) will travel to Hammond, La., on Sunday for an exhibition match up with the Southeastern Louisiana University Lions (3-4) beginning at 3 p.m. in the University Center.
