WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Jesuit Basketball Spotlight (JBS) has selected Spring Hill College center Jake Thelen as a member of its Jesuit Honor Roll for the week of January 2-8, 2012. Thelen previously appeared on the JBS Honor Roll this season for the week of December 5-11, 2011.
In two road games this past week, Thelen, a 6-foot-6 freshman from Edgewood, Ky., averaged 22 points, 12 rebounds and two assists per game while shooting 71.4% (20-28) from the field and 44.4% (4-9) from the free throw line.
Thelen currently leads the Badgers with 17.9 points and 7.3 rebounds per game. He stands 6th in NAIA Division 1 with a 65.8% (98-149) overall shooting percentage this season.
The JBS project is a nationwide effort to identify basketball games between Jesuit schools and, through those games, bring greater positive awareness to Jesuit education and mission. This project was developed by the Association of Jesuit Colleges and Universities (AJCU) in response to member institutions wanting to spread the word of Jesuit higher education through the more than 90 basketball games in which Jesuit institutions play each other.
Spring Hill (8-5, 3-3 SSAC) will next play at the Loyola University (La.) Wolfpack (9-5, 2-4) in New Orleans on Thursday at 7:30 p.m.
