MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Spring Hill College women's basketball suffered its fourth consecutive road loss with a 61-55 downturn to the Auburn University Montgomery (AUM) Warhawks in a Southern States Athletic Conference (SSAC) contest at the AUM Physical Education Complex on Saturday afternoon.

The Warhawks (9-8, 4-4 SSAC) scored the first points of the contest three minutes into the game off a layup by LaKenya Drayton after the teams combined for a six-turnover, 0-7 start from the field.

Spring Hill took an 8-6 lead at 13:08 off a 3-pointer followed by fast break layup by sophomore guard Bria Bohanon of Ponchatoula, La., but nine consecutive successful free throws by AUM gave the Warhawks a 17-14 advantage with 7:36 left in the first half.

By the 3:44 mark, AUM had built a 26-20 cushion, but the Badgers responded to cut it to 26-25 at 1:51 off a breakaway basket and an inside layup by sophomore forward Sha Sha Buchanan from Mobile's McGill-Toolen Catholic High School.

The Warhawks' Stephanie Torrence would hit a 3-pointer with just 20 seconds on the clock to send the teams into the locker rooms with AUM leading 29-25.

With 14:51 AUM had dug the Badgers into an 11-point hole at 39-28, but Spring Hill rallied to slice the deficit down to just 45-43 with 6:51 to play.

Unfortunately for the visitors from Mobile, the Warhawks would make their free throws in the final minute of play and stretched a 54-51 AUM lead into a 61-55 victory.

Junior forward Kristin Rogers of Ft. Walton Beach, Fla., and Bohanon each scored 15 points to lead the Badgers while Buchanan also added 10 points. Senior center April Bradford of Pensacola, Fla., pulled in 11 rebounds.

Spring Hill shot 32.8% (20-61) from the field, but just 15.4% (2-13) from 3-point range. The Badgers hauled down 38 rebounds and lost 14 turnovers.

Keisha Moore sparked the AUM offense with 16 points and eight rebounds as the Warhawks shot 43.8% (21-48) overall from the field including 28.6% (2-7) in 3-point attempts. AUM collected 46 rebounds and fumbled away 23 turnovers.

Spring Hill (5-10, 1-7 SSAC) will host a non-conference game against the University of New Orleans (UNO) Privateers (0-17) at 5:30 p.m. Monday at the Arthur R. Outlaw Recreation Center. In November, SHC defeated the Privateers 70-57 at UNO.
