The Spring Hill College men's basketball team lost to William Carey University in an SSAC match on Thursday night at the Arthur R. Outlaw Recreation Center by a score of 75-58.
The Crusaders (10-13, 6-6 SSAC) took a 35-27 lead into the halftime locker rooms and built out as much as a 22-point lead late in the second half.
Freshman center Jake Thelen of Edgewood, Ky., led the Badgers with 18 points and nine rebounds while senior guard Tyler Schwab of Panama City, Fla., added 12 points.
SHC shot 38.5% (20-52) from the field and 36.4% (4-11) from 3-point distance.
William Carey was paced by Roderick Little with 18 points to lead four Crusaders in double-figure scoring.
WCU shot 56.5% (26-46) from the field and was 6-of-16 (37.5%) in 3-point attempts.
Rebounds were even at 30 apiece and both teams turned the ball over 16 times.
Spring Hill (10-9, 5-7 SSAC) will host the Loyola University (La.) Wolfpack (13-8, 5-7 SSAC) on Saturday at the Arthur R. Outlaw Recreation Center beginning at 4 p.m. The match will also be available via a live video Web stream at http://www.livestream.com/ssacsports.
