WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Jesuit Basketball Spotlight (JBS) has selected Spring Hill College's Jake Thelen as a member of its Jesuit Honor Roll for the week of January 30-February 5, 2012. This the third time this season the freshman has been honored by the JBS.
In two road games this past week, Thelen, a 6-foot-6 center from Edgewood, Ky., averaged 21.5 points and 9.5 rebounds per game while shooting 66.7% (18-27) from the field and 77.8% (7-9) from the free throw line.
Thelen currently leads the Badgers with 18.4 points and 8.1 rebounds per game. He stands 9th in NAIA Division 1 with a 62.3% (154-247) overall shooting percentage this season.
The JBS project is a nationwide effort to identify basketball games between Jesuit schools and, through those games, bring greater positive awareness to Jesuit education and mission. This project was developed by the Association of Jesuit Colleges and Universities (AJCU) in response to member institutions wanting to spread the word of Jesuit higher education through the more than 90 basketball games in which Jesuit institutions play each other.
Spring Hill (10-10, 5-8 SSAC) will next host the Auburn University Montgomery (AUM) Warhawks (5-18, 2-11 SSAC) in the Arthur R. Outlaw Recreation Center at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.
