The Badgers took home five awards from the SSAC

The 2011-12 Spring Hill College women's basketball team collected five postseason awards from the Southern States Athletic Conference (SSAC) as chosen by the head coaches of the 15 member institutions on Wednesday.

Junior center April Bradford (left) of Pensacola, Fla., was named to the SSAC All-West Division Team after a season in which she averaged 11.3 points and 9.9 rebounds per game.

Point guard Elissa VandeWaa (right) of Spanish Fort, Ala., earned a spot on the All-Freshman roster by shooting 40.3% (50-124) from the field while handing out a team-leading 86 assists and averaging 5.4 points per game.

Junior Accounting major and guard Christina Watson (left) of Brighton, Ala., was recognized as a member of the SSAC All-Academic Team.

Sophomore guard Bria Bohanon (right) of Ponchatoula, La., was chosen as the Badger representative to the Musco Lighting Champions of Character Team.

As a team, Spring Hill College's women's basketball team under first year head coach Karen C. McConico was also presented the 2012 SSAC West Division Sportsmanship Award for their demonstration of character on and off the court throughout the year.
