GULF SHORES, Ala. – The Spring Hill College softball team lost 2-1 to Martin Methodist College and 5-0 to 10th-ranked University of Houston-Victoria at the second day of pool play at the Gulf Coast Invitational in Gulf Shores, Ala.
In the morning contest, Martin Methodist (11-6) collected seven total hits and scored single unearned runs in the 1st and 3rd innings before SHC answered with a run in the 4th frame.
Centerfielder Cynthia Takahoshi was 2-for-3 with an RBI for the RedHawks and pitcher Katlin White (2-3) took the complete-game win by allowing just two hits with two walks and eight strikeouts.
10th-ranked Houston-Victoria (12-3) shut out Spring Hill on two hits to win the afternoon game.
Spring Hill (5-7) will begin the tournament's silver bracket play on Sunday against Central Methodist College (7-8) at 9 a.m.
