TALLADEGA, Ala. – Spring Hill College softball pitcher Linsey Dickerson pitched a no-hitter as the Badgers took an 11-0 non-conference victory over the Talladega College Tornadoes in Game 1 and stormed to a 16-2 win in the nightcap on Tuesday.
Dickerson (5-4) came within an error of pitching a perfect game and hurled 10 strikeouts in the no-no.
Freshmen catcher Jade Bourgeois and third baseman Elise deBruler each went 2-for-4 with a homer in the game while freshman shortstop Shea Blanchard and senior outfielder Kayla Moran also had two hits on the day.
In the second game, the Badgers exploded for an 8-run 7th inning and recorded a total of 21 hits in the contest.
Talladega (0-10) earned five hits off freshman starter Kathryn Ingles (3-3) who also struck out five Tornado batters while walking three opponents.
Senior outfielder Kayla Tompkins was a perfect 5-for-5 at the plate in Game 2 with a homer and a double.
Senior first baseman Jenny Laird had two hits including a 3-run homer. Bourgeois added three more hits to her totals and deBruler also picked up two more safeties for Spring Hill. Moran and Blanchard were both 3-for-5 in the game.
Spring Hill (8-7) will travel to Montgomery on Wednesday for a non-conference doubleheader with Huntingdon College (7-6) beginning at 1 p.m.
