The Spring Hill College baseball team lost a 10-0 decision to William Carey University in an SSAC game at historic Stan Galle Field on Friday night.

The Crusaders (20-14, 9-9 SSAC) scored twice in both the 1st and 2nd innings off Badger starter Nick Schmiemeier (1-6) to build an early 4-0 advantage and closed out the game with a 3-run 5th inning, a 2-run 6th frame and a 1-run 7th inning.

Schmiemeier went five full innings and allowed seven runs off 11 hits with two walks and six strikeouts in the loss while his counterpart for the Crusaders, Taylor Martin (3-2), went the full seven innings in the shutout allowing just three hits and two walks with four strikeouts.

For Carey, shortstop Ronald Camacho collected three RBI and one hit while centerfielder Ernie Triplett and 1st baseman Jackson Posey each had two hits with a run-driven-in as every Crusader starter had at least one hit in the game.

Spring Hill (15-20, 5-14 SSAC) and Carey will wrap up this three-game series on Saturday with a doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m. at Stan Galle Field.
