PASS CHRISTIAN, Miss. – The Spring Hill College men's golf team finished the 2011-12 season with a 6th place finish out of nine teams at the 2012 Southern States Athletic Conference (SSAC) Championship Tournament held at The Oaks Golf Club.
Over the three-round event, the Badgers shot combined team scores of 314, 313, and 323 for a final card of 950 (+86) over the 6665-yard, par-72 course. Lee University, the 2012 team champion, finished with a +49 final score of 913 (303, 310, 300).
As individual competitors, the Badgers were paced by sophomore Philip Dugan of Lake Forest, Ill., who shot scores of 76, 76 and 79 for 8th place out of 45 golfers and a final tally of 231 (+15). Nic Ishee of William Carey University finished 4-under par at 212 with rounds of 70, 70 and 72 for the conference's 2012 individual crown.
Junior Nathan Ceille of Hales Corners, Wis., finished in a tie for 9th place with scores of 78, 73 and 81 (232, +16) while freshmen Robert Bo Cox of Gardendale, Ala., and Jordan Portal of Miami, Fla., closed the book in 18th and 35th positions respectively. Cox shot 78, 81 and 78 for a +21 total of 237 as Portal notched 82, 83 and 85 to finish at 250 (+34).
Junior Joseph Webster of Trussville, Ala., rounded out the Badger competitors in 44th place with a +66 score of 282 (97, 95, 90).
