Spring Hill College volleyball head coach Dr. Peggy Martin has announced the signing of outside and right side hitter Virginia "Ginny" Hicks from Judge Memorial Catholic High School in Salt Lake City, Utah, to an Athletic Grant in Aid.
Hicks has played volleyball since 6th grade and started on the JCHS varsity squad since her sophomore year. She served as team captain in both her junior and senior seasons.
In 2011, Hicks helped lead the Lady Bulldogs to a 9-1 record in region play as well as a share of the Region Co-Championship – the first regional title in school history.
As captain of Club V volleyball team during the 2010-11 season, the Intermountain Volleyball Association (the Junior National Olympic Chapter for Utah/Idaho) named Hicks as its Player of the Tournament for her performance over January 28-29, 2011.
Away from the court, she maintained High Honors academic status throughout her prep volleyball career and volunteered as a youth volleyball coach for St. Ambrose Parish in Salt Lake City.
"We are very glad to have Ginny at SHC," Martin said. "She's a good student, a good athlete and most importantly a quality person."
