Spring Hill College head softball coach Alison Sellers-Cook has announced that Northeast Mississippi Community College second baseman Raleigh Downs of Booneville, Miss., has signed an Athletic Grant in Aid with the Badgers.

In 2012, Downs led the Lady Tiger softball team to one of its most successful seasons in the past half-decade and was a mainstay in the NEMCC infield during her two years in Booneville. During her freshman year, Downs was the Lady Tigers third baseman, but moved to 2nd base at the beginning of her sophomore year.

Appearing in 50 games for the Lady Tigers during the 2011-12 season, Dows paced Northeast to a 32-19 overall record and a state runner-up finish at the Mississippi Association of Community/Junior Colleges (MACJC) State Tournament and a 3rd place showing in the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Region XXIII Tournament in Clinton, Miss.

As a sophomore, Downs hit .300 with a .431 on-base percentage and a .362 slugging percentage. During Northeast's 24-game North Division schedule she hit .312 with a .457 on base percentage and a .344 slugging percentage while leading the Lady Tigers to a school record for wins in the division (17).

Downs had three doubles, a triple and a home run to go along with 13 RBI and 35 runs scored in 2012. She drew 27 walks on the year and struck out 11 times in 50 games for the Lady Tigers. Downs' 27 walks on the season rate as the second best second best in school history.

In the field this season, Downs committed just four errors in 140 chances and helped turn eight double plays for the Lady Tigers while posting a .971 fielding percentage.
