On Tuesday morning, Spring Hill College volleyball head coach Dr. Peggy Martin announced the signing of middle hitter Savannah Becnel from Metairie Park Country Day School in New Orleans, La., to an Athletic Grant in Aid.

Becnel paced Country Day to three consecutive State Championships during her prep career and appeared in the Louisiana High School Coaches Association (LHSCA) All-Star match following her senior season. A three-time All-State selection, she has also been named 1st team All-District 7-1A, All-Jefferson Parish, Episcopal Parish All-Tournament and Times-Picayune All-Metro.

She was named the Times-Picayune Female Athlete of the Week following the state championships of her senior season. As a sophomore, Becnel was selected to the All-State Tournament Team as Country Day finished the season with a 34-4 record.

Becnel lettered in basketball, volleyball and softball three consecutive years at Country Day. She also played with Louisiana Volleyball Club's Elite 17s and 18s teams where her team placed second at the national qualifier in Atlanta, Ga., and was seeded No. 1 in Baltimore, Md., finishing 24th in Atlanta and 12th nationally in Orlando, Fla., last season.

Away from the court, Becnel volunteers at Animal Rescue New Orleans (ARNO) and plans to study Pre-Veterinary Medicine at Spring Hill.
