Spring Hill College Director of Athletics Jim Hall has announced the hiring of Kristin Hoskinson as the head coach of cheerleading and dance to guide the Badgers in their first season of competition as a varsity sport. Hoskinson comes to Spring Hill from Ohio University in Athens, Ohio, where she has served as head coach of cheerleading and mascot since 2010.

Hall said, "I am thrilled that Kristin has agreed to become our first full time head coach for cheerleading and dance. Her wealth of experience in both the cheerleading and dance arenas will allow her to build high quality programs and provide a great experience for our student athletes. Additionally, Kristin's marketing background and enthusiasm will be tremendous assets to our department as we continue to enhance the game environments at our sporting events."

With 10 years of competitive cheerleading and teaching experience at all levels and 16 years of competitive dance experience, Hoskinson will direct the Badgers' sideline and competitive cheerleading programs along with the school's dance team and mascot.

A native of Newark, Ohio, Hoskinson received her Bachelor of Specialized Studies in Marketing-Communications from Ohio in 2006. As an undergraduate, she was a four-year member of the Ohio cheerleading team and team captain during the 2005-06 season. She remained in Athens for the 2006-07 season as the assistant cheerleading coach and was a vital part of the Bobcat squad that placed in the top 20 at the Universal Cheerleaders Association (UCA) College Nationals in Orlando, Fla.

"I am very excited to join the great staff currently at Spring Hill College," Hoskinson said. "I want to thank Jim Hall for this opportunity. His vision for where he wants this department and this program to be is what sold me on this great opportunity. I am honored to be the first head coach of what will one day be a well-known spirit program. Spring Hill is a top-notch academic college with a beautiful campus and I look forward to building the program with the great athletes already on campus, as well as bringing in many new ones to continue to build the future of the Badger cheerleading and dance teams."

Hoskinson worked for two years at the Memphis, Tenn., headquarters of UCA where she was Northeast Regional Sales Manager. In 2007, she changed roles to Northeast Assistant Regional Manager and Assistant to the Vice President of Staff Development. Hoskinson also helped with Curriculum for UCA and served as a judge for entry tapes of UCA College National Championships.

While coaching at Ohio, Hoskinson also worked full-time as Customer Development Director for the Southeast Region for Varsity Brands, Inc., the leading cheerleading and dance company in the world. She is an active member of the UCA Rules Committee and is a Rules Judge for UCA College, High School and All-Star Cheerleading Championships as well as the Cheerleading All-Star Worlds and International Cheer Union World Championships in Orlando.

Hoskinson is a national coach certifier, speaker and representative at NCAA tournaments for the American Association of Cheerleading Coaches and Administrators (AACCA) and recently received her certification as a United States All Star Federation (USASF) Rules Judge.
