LONGVIEW, Texas – The Spring Hill College men's soccer team began the 2012 season with a hard-fought 2-1 road victory on Saturday afternoon over non-conference foe Wiley College.

All of the scoring in the match came in the first half of play as sophomore Tyler Hartlage of Tampa, Fla., headed in the first Badger goal of the year in the 20th minute while freshman Andrew McInnis of Mandeville, La., added a second goal in the 36th minute off an assist by sophomore Tanyi Mubang of Tampa.

The Wildcats answered with a tally in the 41st minute when Victor Colion scored an unassisted goal to make it a 2-1 SHC lead going to the break.

The defenses took over in the second period as neither offense could find the back of the net and the Badgers held on for the win.

Spring Hill (1-0) will remain in Longview for a Sunday rematch with the Wildcats (0-1) beginning at 2 p.m.
