The Spring Hill College women's soccer team earned a 5-0 non-conference decision over the visiting Judson College Lady Eagles on Friday afternoon at Library Field marking their third consecutive shutout victory in the young season.
Former McGill-Toolen Catholic High School star freshman Courtney Harlan scored four times with goals in the 11th, 27th, 38th, and 67th minutes. Her first goal skimmed off the fingertips of the Eagle goalkeeper came off a header of a corner kick by sophomore Emily Thorpe of Shawnee Mission, Kan., to make it a 2-0 SHC lead.
Harlan's second goal was a full midfield sprint that beat two defenders and the keeper one-on-one to make it 3-0 in favor of the Badgers.
Spring Hill scored first for their fourth consecutive match with a tally by freshman Aedan Stranahan of Eureka, Calif., in the 2nd minute of play via a nifty left-to-right entry pass by sophomore Erin Claxton of Calgary, Alberta, Canada. Claxton added two more assists on Harlan's fourth and fifth goals.
The Badger out shot Judson 30-7 as sophomore Abby Massengale (2-0) of New Orleans, La., and freshman Maggie Dalessio of St. Petersburg, Fla. each saw a full half on action in goal. Dalessio recorded all three Badger saves of the contest in second period.
Rachel Walker (0-2) of Judson (0-2) made 12 saves against 30 shots by the Badgers.
SHC has outscored its last three opponents 18-0.
Spring Hill (3-1) will next host Thomas University (2-0) from Thomasville, Ga., in a non-conference match on Monday at noon on Library Field.
