METAIRIE, La. – The Spring Hill College men's cross country team opened the 2012 season with a 6th place finish out of eight teams at the Loyola Wolf Pack Classic on Saturday morning at Lafreniere Park.
The Badgers collected a total of 127 points and ran a total team time of 1:35:03.30 in an average team time of 19:00.66 over the 5-kilometer course.
Sophomore John Russell of Cullman, Ala., crossed the line first for SHC in a time of 18:06.21 and ran in 14th position out of 72 total runners.
Fellow sophomores Conner Kirkikis of Kenner, La., was 26th in 18:48.93 and Michael Anderson of Marietta, Ga., placed 28th with a time of 18:59.37.
Sophomore Ben Fleming of Metairie ran in 33rd position at 19:24.21 and freshman Brennan McLean of Baton Rouge, La., placed 38th in his collegiate debut with a time of 19:44.58.
The 6th and 7th finishers for the Badgers were freshman Conner Bueche of Baton Rouge in 43rd place at 19:54.24 and senior Ben Pace of Dallas, Texas, in 44th place at 19:58.29. Freshman Patrick Lameka from Chicago, Ill., came in at 49th with a time of 20:10.00 while junior Eric Mooney of Willoughby Hills, Ohio, closed out the Badger runners in 50th position at 20:18.65.
The Badgers next run at the Azalea City Classic hosted by the University of South Alabama at the Brookley Pines course in Mobile on Saturday at 7:30 a.m.
